France, Special Partner of the Fair
The French programme has been prepared by BIEF and the French Institute in Poland. The annual presence of French books and their publishers will be enriched by an exhibition on Polish-French relations between 1914-1921, meetings with authors and a very rich programme focusing on comics. The French zone will include stands run by representatives (agents) of eight French publishing houses and publishing groups, as well as a presentation on the comics markets in France and Poland.
The invited guests are: Jean-François Colosimo, historian, intellectual, expert in religion, former president of the Centre National du Livre (CNL), publisher, president of Editions du Cerf (one of the most important French publishing houses in the field of religion and humanities), author of "Les hommes en trop. La malédiction des chrétiens d'Orient" (published in Poland by Wydawnictwo Akademickie Dialog under the title: "Zbędni ludzie. Przekleństwo chrześcijan bliskiego wschodu"; Michel Eltchaninoff, philosopher, journalist, essayist, author of "Inside the Mind of Vladimir Putin", published in Poland by Studio Emka under the title: "Co ma Putin w głowie"; Patrice Locmant, literary historian, employee of the French Ministry of Culture and Col. Frédéric Guelton, who will talk about the relations between Poland and France between 1914 and 1921.
Children above 10 will have a chance to see the movie "Adama", based on a comic by Julien Lilti and Simon Rouby. The film received a prize at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2016 and was nominated for the César award for best film by the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques.
